Post-Election, Americans Feel…

by on November 11, 2008, 10:48 am

After the most grueling election season most Americasn can remember, the general feeling is mixed.

The election of Barack H. Obama to the highest office in the land is an historic event that many Americans and those living abroad thought to be a foregone conclusion months ago, has become a reality.  As the President-Elect, Senator Obama is getting his cabinet in place for the transition into the Oval Office on January 20, 2009.  His victory over opponent John McCain, was not a surprise to most, but certainly not as wide a margain as the main stream media would have led the public to believe it would be.

iVote, the iPhone voting application, posted a question to users about how they feel.  Sensing that the main stream media would have stated a majority of democrats to be ELATED about the up and coming junior Senator from Illinois being elected to the most powerful position in the free world, we wanted to give iPhone users a voice to really state how they feel.

“After the election, I am feeling…?

20%              Elated

16%              Relieved

19%              Depressed

23%              Hopeful

11%              Anxious

11%              Unsure

What this data shows is that of iPhone users who are using the iVote application, a surprisingly low 43 percent gave a positive response to the question.

With the election being called a landslide victory for the democratic party, and iPhone users being of the young, democratic wing, as former polls have proved, this data is conflicting.

I’m glad Bush is out and I’m hopefull for the future! Also, Spurl, I’d like to know why it matters if your “liberal” or “conservative”. Can’t you just respect the president, if only because he’s the one elected by the majority? That’s what our system of government is all about: since you can’t make EVERYONE happy, you have a vote, and the majority will be happy with the outcome. When Bush was elected the second time, I didn’t go about yelling the world was going to end, I accepted him as the choice of the majority.

Hey I Answer Questions, Spurl was just stating that not all iVote users are liberal! That does not mean he voted for John McCain, as some people from both parties voted for their opposing political party this time around. He did not say he was unhappy with the results of the election or anything, so please stop blowing things out of proportion as its people like you who cause there to be issues with the parties not coming together when you make radical accusations off of one sentence. I figured that had to be said, because the attack on Spurl for stating a FACT that not all users are liberal did not warrant a speech about the outcome of the recent election.

haha, probably shouldn’t have put that comment on here, sorry! I was continuing a conversation Spurl and I were having on iVote. I see now how odd it looks in front of Spurl’s little statement. BTW, and not that it matters, I know for a fact that Spurl voted for McCain, and he IS unhappy with the results of the election, though he has stated that he wouldn’t have been much happier with McCain. ANYWAY, sorry once again!
