Should the US remove the Penny?

by on September 26, 2008, 12:42 pm

In a recent post may iVote users said they would be in favor of doing away with the Lincoln One Cent piece.

Many users commented on the selection of the question.  But the iAsk moderators investigated and found a new design was being unveiled that very day.

US Mint Announcement

The final totals have the voting at:

1149    Yes, Too much loose change

1030    No, I like the little Lincolns

185      I’m not sure

441     Doesn’t matter to me

Even though the cost of producing pennies is estimated at around 1.4 cents per coin, the most common coin in the US Mint is going to continue to be produced, even with a series of four new designs.

Most iVoters do not understand that the questions posted come mostly from the iAsk database.

After a series of questions created to increase awareness of iAsk, the database has been inundated with questions, ranging from the mundane to the gross, to the spectacular.

Come on iVoters, keep those juices flowing and allow iVote to become a social networking phenomenon.

iVote Users Overwhelmingly State “Holocaust” Happened

by on September 19, 2008, 10:16 am

In a recent poll 91% of iVote users stated the Holocaust most certainly happened.

Contrary to Iran’s leader, Ahmadinejad, stating the opposite just days before. http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/JI20Ak05.html

The very first voter to comment, AveryJames, received over 200 positive votes when he stated, “How could it not have happened? That’s ridiculous!”

Many similar voters were almost outraged that a question like this was posted to the popular site. Some shared stories of emotional depth;

“I was 16 when I visited the Dachau Concentration Camp outside Munich.  I was really happy and in a good mood before I went in, but as soon as I went through the front gate and entered the camp that mood changed instantly”

“My parents survived, Thank God.”

Several comments began a debate on the shear number of deaths, ranging anywhere from 6 to 12 million Jews and other nationalities.

Mark1615Japan stated, ” The real death toll was in the thousands, not the “6 million” …

Other people just commented on why the question was included in iVote anyway.

If you would like to be included in the discussions, this FREE application can be downloaded at the iTunes App Store and loaded onto your iPhone or iTouch.

Have You Ever Wondered

by on September 15, 2008, 8:34 am

Many people feel that they are the only ones to have never experimented with illegal drugs.  Now a recent poll on iVote has shown you are not alone.

On September 4th the question was posted to iVote, and by that evening over 1000 people had responded with a resounding No, Never!

Even two (2) weeks later the polls show almost a statistical dead heat between those who have and those who never have.

Not surprisingly though some people do not trust the privacy of the app and “claimed the 5th”.

Now, two weeks later the world totals are in:

40 %      Yes

45%       No, Never

7%         Okay, maybe just once

2%         “I didn’t inhale”

7%          I claim the 5th

Maybe Bill was not alone when he said, “I didn’t inhale”.  Or could it be that iPhone users are too young to remember the infamous line from our former President.  Whatever the case.  It is apparent that iVote users will admit with ease past indiscretions to an informal poll.

One interesting fact about the results is that no matter where in the world you scale it to, the results are very similar to the entire world.

iVote Poll Shows iPhone Users to be Short Tempered

by on September 12, 2008, 3:10 pm

Nearly a week after a recent iPhone service interruption on the Eastern seaboard, users expressed their frustrations on iVote, the iPhone app, available for FREE on the iTunes store.

I can’t function without my iPhone” and “iPhone is my new religion” , are just two of the comments left on the app after answering the question, “How long would iPhone need to be down before you got mad?

70% of total users would be mad within 1 hour of loss of service.

Only 10% said they could last 1 day.

In the USA the impatience only gets worse.

73% would not last an hour.

California is higher at 77% lasting just 1 hour, while only 68% of New York iPhone subscribers would be mad, while 24% would be okay for at least a day.

Floridians blow away the premise of being relaxed by coming in at a whooping 78% getting angry over an outage of 1 hour or less.

The writers would suggest that the world outside of the US may be better adept at handling technology outages.

iVote Users Are Happy

by on September 10, 2008, 10:26 am

With nearly 4000 votes cast, iVote users claim to be a very happy bunch.

63% of voters say they are happy more of the time, while only 3% say they are miserable.

Most users enjoy the ability to comment on their response immediately after posting.  Some have gone to posting multiple comments.  More than 108 voters claim to appreciate the response left by “yankz619″,

“I’m very lucky to be alive and well! So i always try to be happy because there are many people who are very sick or have disorders.  I try always to keep a smile on my face whatever the situation.”

In a time where more news is bad than good, the results show that the people who own Apple’s new technology are generally a happy bunch.  Their outlook seems to be positive and not gloomy.

iVote Users say Rebuild or Retrofit New Orleans , Don’t Abandon!

by on September 5, 2008, 2:44 pm

iVote, the iPhone voting app, shows results from a recent poll regarding New Orleans, the city below sea-level, should be restored.  53% of users around the world say to rebuild.

Within the United States itself voters are very much the same at 52%.  However as you dig deeper the results become more varied.  In the state of California , who submitted the most votes, only 30% say NO to rebuilding.

Neighboring Texas voters were closer to the global average with 45% saying rebuild.

Most users chimed in with some great ideas.  The iVote team agreed most with the user “Blootered” who suggested they “redesign it.  stop fighting the water (nature always wins). … make it a ghetto-riffic version of venice”.

If you can’t see the iVoteapp on your iPhone or iTouch, go to your iTunes store and download it today.  Become part of the iVote phenoemon.

iVote Users Point to D**n Yankee Fans

by on September 3, 2008, 12:23 pm

As the baseball season comes to a frenzied end, a recent poll of fans chose the Yankee fan base as the most “obnoxious”.

Here are the iVote results as of September 3rd, 2008.

34 % say the New York Yankees.

21% say the Boston Red Sox.

15% say they are equally obnoxious.

30% said they don’t care.

Some users choose to add comments after voting.  One interesting comment was, “This would be fun on the old Geraldo show or Springer.  Ask that question in a studio full of Sox and Yankee fans and someone is going out in an ambulance“.

As the iVote application gains popularity it will become a place of contemplation, confusion and even contention sometimes.
