In today’s society, everyone has an opinion concerning just about everything. This cultural phenomenon is clearly apparent everywhere. In recent iVote polls though, too many people are refusing to take a side, and commenting that we should be allowed to answer “BOTH”, “NEITHER”, or just something other than the choices given. Instead they are choosing to bash others who do choose a side. This app was designed for interactivity and creative dialogue between sometimes random users, across all cultures, continents, and communities. It is a real time way to get an opinion on a topic of varying degrees of seriousness.

If you cannot choose a side on a particular topic, then choose to remain silent. This app exists to spur conversation, contemplation, and consideration of many things. Too many “kids” are choosing to just be argumentative and not communicative. If you cannot decide for just one option then please do NOT spam the comments with: “Lame Question!”, “repeat”, “who cares”..etc….

If you don’t have an opinion, then in the words of an immortal goddess, “say nothing at all“.

If you choose a side, then by all means, explain, defend, and promote your position in a manner that exemplifies patience, open-mindedness, and understanding.

Please comment! We want your voice to be heard. Just do it with all pleasantries and politeness.

The iVote iPhone application has been a tremendous success.
We are ecstatic about our rapid growth and diverse user base.

However, as with any popular discussion forum, there are those users that:

*Can’t discuss topics civilly
*Make childish comments
*Use vulgarity
*Use hate speech
*Make useless “first” comments
*Spam or flame discussion topics.

We have begun actively banning iVote users who engage in [...]

After the most grueling election season most Americasn can remember, the general feeling is mixed.

The election of Barack H. Obama to the highest office in the land is an historic event that many Americans and those living abroad thought to be a foregone conclusion months ago, has become a reality. As the President-Elect, Senator Obama is getting his cabinet in place for the transition into the Oval Office on January 20, 2009. His victory over opponent John McCain, was not a surprise to most, but certainly not as wide a margain as the main stream media would have led the public to believe it would be.

iVote, the iPhone voting application, posted a question to users about how they feel. Sensing that the main stream media would have stated a majority of democrats to be ELATED about the up and coming junior Senator from Illinois being elected to the most powerful position in the free world, we wanted to give iPhone users a voice to really state how they feel.

“After the election, I am feeling…?

20% Elated

16% Relieved

19% Depressed

23% Hopeful

11% Anxious

11% Unsure

What this data shows is that of iPhone users who are using the iVote application, a surprisingly low 43 percent gave a positive response to the question.

With the election being called a landslide victory for the democratic party, and iPhone users being of the young, democratic wing, as former polls have proved, this data is conflicting.

It is interesting to note that when the US government began the HGN project in 1990, most people had little if any understanding of the scope of impact this research would have. Today it is common knowledge the far reaching effects of the 13 year project to understand the Human DNA.

In the iPhone Application iVote, a recent question confirmed what many suspected to be true; Americans still don’t understand the most basic information contained within the DNA strand.

The question “How many genes are in the human genome?” seemed simple enough, however the world-wide answers varied greatly.

21% 23

27% 46

8% 20, 000 - 30, 000

7% 100,000 - 200,000

9% 250, 000

28% 3.2 billion

The correct answer to the question is 20, 000 - 30, 000.

23 is the number of pairs of chromosomes.

3.2 billion is the number of chemical base pairs.

With so much information so readily available, the general public should be better than an 8% correct ratio.

TimHowardFan14, who by the way is not from the USA, was the 1st to post a correct response just 1 hour and 28 minutes after the question was posted.

Then we have the highly educated Mb167204 (from the USA), “I have a degree in cellular and molecular biology. The real answer is something around 26, 000″.

The USA alone was about average with 7% getting the answer correct.

The British proved to be of a higher intellect by scoring 17% correctly.

Australia, France and Germany also did better than the USA coming in at 10-15% each.

THE Human Genome Project website discusses in great detail the specifics of the research.

News Flash - Bulletin…

On Tuesday morning October 7th the iVote question was , ” Will the Dow continue to fall?”.

That day Americans had seen the Dow take its 3rd largest drop in the history of the Industrial average. The markets closed on Tuesday night with the index at just below the 10,000 mark.

Most people believed the markets were not going to drop much further as Congress had just passed the largest (700billion +) recovery bailout in the history of American financial system. But here at iVote headquarters we just wanted to know the pulse of real every day American citizens. What were they on main street thinking and stating publicly.

A whopping 65% said the Dow was not finished with its collapse. Many leaving dire comments:

CentralCalChick stated, “I hope it gets better. I check the stocks that my 401k is wrapped up in and it scares me!”

byers wagered, ” it will bottom out around 7500 - 8000.”

Mainiak believes, “we’re in for 1 - 2 years of ****“.

Foo786 gave the longest and most discouraging comment, ” For those of you who don’t know it, the world is coming to an end. All will be rolled up and burnt… …you are all doomed and you brought this upon yourselves….”

Most are skeptical but more believe the markets were bound for some type of correction.

As of Friday morning, October 10th, the Dow was below 8000 and falling still.

This blogger is just praying that iVoters are right in believing the bottom is around 7500.

Most people can get along in life with people of differing viewpoints and backgrounds. However there are some idiosyncrasies that the majority of iVoters would like to see abolished from society.

Nearly 1 in 3 iVoters claimed to have no “pet peeves”, while the majority were more than willing to share their anger points.

The most popular post, given by iSkBr, was , “people who don’t know when to shut up“.

This was in direct response to previous questions dealing with the topics of who are your favorite user and who should be denied the privilege of iVote.

The database allows other users to (+) or (-) comments posted. It is this way that the administrators of iVote can accurately tell what the majority of users believe or feel.

Tchr93 chimed in with another popular sentiment, “people who comment first, second, etc. on iVote“.

It has become an issue recently that some users will just post their position number when commenting. This can be annoying and childish, but a recent tool implemented allows the moderator of iVote to delete users who repeatedly abuse their privilege of posting comments.

To round out the top five posts of “pet peeves”:

TomBrady, ” people driving slow in the fast lane”

Tchr93, “people with negative attitudes”

Hobbes, “people who don’t walk on the right side of the hallway or stairs or mall...”

This poll was given on a Saturday afternoon, and by midnight over 100 votes had been cast. comments on comments were to continue all throughout Sunday and into Monday morning. Even though other questions had been posted and comments updated, this remained in the top question getting feedback.

Stay tuned in to iVote to keep up with your friends acquaintances, and enemies positions in matters of great importance all the way to just sharing what our mothers always taught us, “Don’t pick your nose in public“.

iVote recently questioned its users on who would win the NL pennant. In the question dated September 20th, users were allowed to choose from those apparent to be in the post season, WHICH included the Mets.

24 % Dodgers

12 % Phillies

20 % Mets

7% Brewers

But in the end, the hapless Metropolitans lost there seemingly insurmountable lead to the Phillies and found themselves out of the post season. For the second year in a row, no less, the New York squad was eliminated on the final day of the regular season.

Many of the iVote users had actually predicted this outcome.

“… the Mets choke again this year”.

“I really hope the Mets can do it…”

But some held the vigil started a year prior.

“Let’s go Mets!!!”

“Mets baby!! Beltran, Wright, Reyes, and Delgado!”

With the beginning of the post season today, the Mets will again root for the National League Champions to beat the American League in the World Series.

After the death of one of the greatest actors of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, iVote posted a series of questions related to the multi-talented actor, director, writer, producer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur.

The first question was designed to inform the masses of his passing Friday evening.

The poll asked “What Will Paul Newman BEST be Remembered For?”

46 % Acting

1% Directing

7% Blue Eyes

2% Racing

21% Salad Dressing

22% Who?

It is surprising that such a tremendous asset to society passed and the youngest members of society hardly new of him.

“wish I knew who he was. I’m going to google him..”

“my mom said he was an actor”

“I don’t know much about him”

In an interview on Saturday, Leonardo DiCaprio stated “He was the great role model for anyone in this industry, in the [way] that he conducted his life. Look at him, and look at the man’s work. As an actor, he was part of the definitive group of actors who really shaped what modern acting is. Yet, at the same time, he was a normal family man, and extremely philanthropic. His foundation will continue to do great things for children all around the world. He is really the role model; he’s what you want to aspire to be in this industry, both professionally and personally.”

Many of the comments on that question were tributes to the legendary actor.

Nooo, please tell me that its not true. He’s my favorite ever actor…

“I think for the statement, ‘Why would I go out for hamburger, when I can have steak at home’”
